Holiday Happiness

Tis the Season for
HOLIDAY HAPPINESS!

December's luncheon was filled with holiday joy and festivities! The Pebble Creek Country Club was full of beautiful Christmas decorations.

Mary Sue and Pat are wonderful greeters with beautiful smiles.

SOS Ministries gave the Christian Women's Connection an opportunity to give Christmas gifts to the 65 girls in the ministry. Women from the CWC drew the name of a teenage girl and went shopping! Carmen Sifuentz attended the luncheon and received all the gifts to deliver to the teenagers. The girls will unwrap the gifts on Thursday night December the 16th!
Local entertainer, Mark Taylor performed beautiful Christmas songs on the piano including White Christmas and Oh Holy Night. The ladies joined him to sing Silent Night and Jingle Bells!

Pebble Creek served a variety of salads, a vegetable medley, salmon, chicken breast, and dinner rolls.
Dessert deserved it's own picture. Triple layered chocolate cake!
The fellowship between the women of Christian Women's Connection is one of the best parts of the luncheon!

Speaker for the luncheon, Sharon Braner from Broken Arrow, Oklahoma, was joined by her friend of over 20 years, Deanne Beck from the Woodlands.
Sharon's talk "What is your Life's Song" was quite entertaining as recalled titles of songs from the past and songs of the present. She described times in her life when her "song" was Hee-Haw's "Gloom Despair and Agony On Me..." The lyrics of her song changed when she developed a relationship with Christ that filled her with peace, contentment, and happiness!

November's Roadtip at Hilltop Lakes

The Bryan/College Station Christian Women's Connection took a ROAD TRIP to Hilltop Lakes for November's luncheon! We have a great group of ladies from Hilltop Lakes faithfully join us at Pebble Creek Country Club, our normal luncheon location in College Station, so we decided to go visit them at their beautiful small community which they like to call Heaven.

Vehicles were the theme of the luncheon and this cool ride was parked out front with a sign showing us which way to enter.
The ladies of Hilltop Lakes decorated the beautiful lodge with fall decorations to get us all in a Thanksgiving mood.

As always, we enjoy good visits and fellowship before the luncheon begins! Of course, we're women!
Chicken breast, steamed vegetables, a side salad, and dinner rolls were served for lunch. Dessert was a slice of shortcake with blackberry toppings. The lodge at Hilltops sure knows how to treat us well!

Our feature was Ms. Texas Senior Sarah Senter of Red Oak Texas. Sarah spoke of her journeys and adventures while she wore the crown in 2009!

Our speaker, Donna Bogema of Danbury, was accompanied by her fried Mary Jean Adams. Donna brought a wonderful message and reminded us of the importance of the choices we make everyday. Donna owns a house in Hilltops and visits as frequently as she is able with her family.

See you next month for a very Merry Christmas Luncheon!

Over the Rainbow Luncheon

To celebrate the 100th anniversary of the book The Wizard of Oz, the theme of this month's outreach luncheon was "Over the Rainbow". The very talented Joan Unfred designed this wonderful pillow and quilt as a decoration and door prize!
We had special guests with us to help us celebrate: the Scarecrow, the Lion, Dorothy, and even Toto (in Dorothy's basket)!

As always, Pebble Creek Country Club served us a wonderful meal. Yesterday's meal consisted of various salads, green beans, mashed potatoes, pork loin, and chicken breast.
To continue to the celebration of the book's anniversary, the ladies participated in a book exchange. Any extra books will be given to SOS Ministries.

Our lovely speaker, Barbara Yancey, shared with us her testimony of growing up in a difficult environment and having the faith and courage to overcome her past. Her granddaughter, Emily Yancey, was also able to leave class a bit early to join us!

Evangelism

Stonecroft Ministries was founded by Helen Duff Baugh because of her heart for evangelism. In the book One Woman, One Faith, One Vision, you will discover her journey and the beginning of Stonecroft Ministries. After reading it, you will be inspired to reach out to more women and invite them to our luncheons, prayer connections, Bible studies, and outreach events.

So my question to you is:

Where do you leave invitations?

Who do you seek out to invite to meetings?

Has God given you the opportunity to share the gospel just like Helen Duff Baugh, the founder of Stonecroft, lived her life to do?

Click on "comments" at the bottom of this post and share with us so we can learn from each other! You can post as Anonymous if you do not have any of the requested accounts.

SOS Women's Retreat

The mission of Stonecroft Ministries is "to equip and encourage women to impact their communities with the Gospel of Jesus Christ." And we all played a role in doing just that at the SOS Women's Retreat!

Bryan/College Station's Christian Women's Connection served the Lord in all kinds of ways: food preparations, the door prizes, giving food for snacks, serving in the kitchen, leading small groups, leading breakout sessions, and most importantly by praying! It was an amazing retreat!

Our speaker, Jenny Broughton from Oklahoma City, was a joy! She shared her heartwarming story with us and how God has delivered her from vast amounts of hurt and pain into a beautiful woman of the Lord who uses her hardships to deliver other women who have also lived through difficult times. She spoke on "What Not To Wear" and gave us wonderful tips concerning our physical dress code and most importantly our spiritual dress. Visit her website: www.jennybroughton.com

Margaret and Barbara preparing sloppy joes!

The ladies got their hands dirty while planting container gardens.

Please remember to keep all the ladies who attended the retreat in your hearts and prayers. Jenny, our speaker, encouraged the ladies "not to become weary in doing good" because life will not be easy.

Also, thank you all for serving. Even though you may not have been there in body, your prayers and preparations before the retreat were much appreciated and you will be blessed!

Question for you...

The leadership team had an awesome planning meeting this morning! We discussed so many creative, fun ideas for the next four months. Ladies, prepare yourself for some wonderful luncheons full of fun, fantastic prayer connections, Bible studies that will change us, and outreach opportunities that will connect us with other sisters in Christ!

Here's a question: Do you have a personal blog that you would like to share with us? Or maybe a favorite link that you learn from and are inspired by? If so, leave a comment to this post with the link!

We all learn from each other and the web has so many great opportunities to grow!

July's Luncheon

We had flip-flop fun at the "One Stop Fun Spot" on Tuesday July 20th at Grand Station Entertainment!
While the kiddos enjoyed bowling, laser tag, arcade games and all sorts of fun, the ladies enjoyed wonderful fellowship with sisters in Christ!

In a "picnic style" atmosphere, the meal consisted of hamburgers, grilled chicken sandwiches, backed beans, potato salad, potato chips, and desserts brought by the ladies of CWC. What a treat!

Three lovely ladies from Charming Charlie displayed several different day and night styles along with the perfect jewelry to accessorize with! Yes, that shirt on the mannequin is as cute in the picture as it is in real life!
Charming Charlie was also gracious enough to give all the ladies in attendance a coupon for our next visit! A very special THANK YOU from all the ladies at the luncheon!

Susan Brown, founder of Arising to Excellence Ministries, spoke on "Flip Flopping in High Heels: How to Balance in an Unbalance World." She encouraged us to gain a deeper understanding of who we are in Christ and who Christ is in you. She has placed her Hope in the Lord and inspired us to do the same no matter what trial we may be going through.

Judy informed us that July was ice cream appreciation month and in 1904 the ice cream cone was invented and introduced at the St. Louis World's Fair. Among those in attendance was Helen Keller, Thomas Edison, and the Carnahans from California who were Judy's great grandparents. Her great grandfather bought his daughter, Judy's grandmother, a gold and diamond pendant watch at the fair. The same pendant watch that Judy wore 106 years later to the luncheon!
